Testing Testing
So, thanks to my sister we are going to blog about our summer of travel. She figured this was a great way to share our journeys and pictures with family and friends. As many of you know Dan is the writer in the family so I hope to get him and the boys to chime in as the summer progresses.
It all started last year when Dan asked if I wanted to go to Hawaii or Italy for my 40th birthday. A nice get away for just the two of us to celebrate my "moving up" day. I came back with a family vacation to California. We take off July 27th and head back on August 12th landing in San Diego and leaving from San Franciso. Figuring this would be it for the summer we sort of went all out, wandering up the coast and then spending four nights in Yosemite.
We added to this one trip with a weekend trip for Mothers Day to NYC to see Rock of Ages (AWESOME) and then the following weekend to Niagara Falls and Toronto to see a Red Sox game.
The pictures above are from our first sojourn. We started around the University of Rochester and headed into the city along the Genesse Valley River Trail. It was a great seven mile walk to Dinosaur BBQ and back. I would recommend this to anyone who lives in the area as it was a different way to look at our city. We came back to a great picnic as we watch about 200 people play Frisbee Golf; who knew, right? We ended our great afternoon with a dead battery so we lounged in the park waiting for a tow.
The next day we headed to a 1pm Red Wings game. The weather was perfect and as always I had to eat my way thought the game "A Taste of the Red Wings" but sadly the Wings lost.
Stay tuned for some more posts (and pictures of course) of the Hayes Family Summer of Travel
