Segway Saturday and San Diego Safari

Saturday started with a nice drive upto the Wildlife Safari.  The scenery was wonderful as we drove into the hills.  Karen was able to change our Segway tour moved up to 10:30 AM.  Our tour guides were wonderful, and we got an up close look at the wonderful rhinos, giraffes, lions, and cheetahs.

The weather was great all day and we spent several hours walking the trails after the conclusion of our tour.  The highlights were as follows:

Karen: giraffes
Colin: taking the Segway tour
Kyle: The dominant male Impala chasing a young challenger around the 1/2 mile run at top speed
Dan: The views of the California hillsides from the top of the park.

After the tour we drove to SD harbor and had a nice seafood dinner at Anthony's.  Tomorrow we leave SD with many happy memories, it is a wonderful wonderful city!

Zoo and Beach

Today we started out and went to the zoo.  The first thing we did was go on a 35-40 minute bus ride around most of the zoo.  We saw many animals such a elephants and zebras.  We then took a 5 minute sky lift over the zoo.  Then we walked around and saw the rest of the animals like the hyenas, giraffes, and bears.
Then we went to Coronado beach. While mom and dad relaxed in the sand because the couldn't suck it up to go in the water because it was "too cold". Me a Colin went what we call body surfing were we wade out into about chest deep water and wait for a big wave. When one comes we swim toward the shore and before it hits us we put our arms at our side and see where the waves take us. Whether it be above water and gently in ward or rolling along the ocean floor. Either just as fun as the other. Then we went for a walk outside the beautiful Coronado hotel.

Welcome to San Diego

It went off without a hitch...can't say that too often.

We arrived around 11am and took off to La Jolla to see the beach.  It was wonderful and refreshing to dip our feet in the water.  Got our first view of the wild life with seals, dolphins, pelicans and a array of others.

From there we had fish burritos for lunch, I was told I could not leave the state without them and they were definitely right.

We headed up the La Jolla drive till we reached Mount Soledad, a monument to all lost in battle, with a terrific view of everything.

Since we were about to drop we decided a car trip to Coronado was in order.  We thought we would check out the hotel but parking was CRAZY.  We hit the beach instead when the boys perfected the body surf.

Tomorrow we are off to the Zoo.  Wish us luck.

PS - the gummy bear display is how we amuse ourselves for 3 1/2 hours on an airplane.
